During this era of time where females are taking a stance for their proper rights and recognition, Drake shakes the ground with the release of his new single. The music video for his new track, “Nice for What”, is centered around current, powerful women of influence in the spotlight. With famous figures such as Olivia Wilde, Misty Copeland, Issa Rae, Rashida Jones, Jourdan Dunn, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tiffany Haddish, Yara Shahidi, Zoe Saldana, and Letitia Wright, just to name a few, you will have no other choice than to be stuck staring at the screen screaming “I know her!” and “Omg, I love her! Omg, I love her, too!”.
The best part about the entire video is that Drake’s vision was to exhibit the women having fun. Not over exposed in lingerie, not participating in sexually explicit activities, and certainly not twerking. Yara Shahidi, one of the models who is famously known for her acting roles in Blackish and Grownish, can be seen studying at what presumes to be a University setting.
The overall message I get from seeing such gorgeous women feeling alive and beautiful in natural settings and simply enjoying themselves, is the same message the song “Nice For What” gives out all along.
“That’s a real one in your reflection, Without a follow, without a mention, You really pipin’ up on these n*ggas, You gotta be nice for what to these n*ggas?” – Drake
Women are gorgeous in their own right and do not need a man. In fact, there are only a rare set of men who deserve their love. Before being in love with men in the first place, it is clearly visible to anyone spectating that these strong, independent females are rightfully in love with themselves.
“You ain’t stressin’ off no lover in the past tense, You already had them, Work at 8 A.M., finish ’round five, Hoes talk down, you don’t see ’em outside, Yeah, they don’t really be the same offline.” -Drake
They are bosses, moguls, and trend setters. Women are the future of our universe; they deserve to be cherished because they are a treasure. This song and video goes out to all the women across the land. Keep prospering, stay great, and know that you are beautiful in your own right.
